I first saw Vibe Machine and didn't realise that they didn't fit into a genre. Then I saw them again and ticked off all the genres and was left with a very weak thought that they might be in the 'festival band' genre. Then I watched them at a gig I wasn't involved in. I danced, I joined in, I made up my own bits to songs I hadn't heard before, laughed at the 'wrong time' (according to other people around me who stared a bit) at the end of that gig I realised that they were always going to be in the 'my band' genre and I think that's how many people see them, they are 'our' band.
